オアハカ街歩き。
オアハカの街は、いたるところにアートが溢れている。
Museo de los Pintores Oaxaqunosは様々なテイストのアーティストによる作品が並び見応えがあった。ヘミングウェイがキューバを愛したように、オアハカを愛してここで創作活動をするアーティストは多いらしい。
想像力を掻き立てるアートやオシャレなカフェの合間には、ここで生きる人々の営みがのぞく。貧富の差が激しいメキシコ。貧困層の多くは少数民族に属していると言い、多民族が共生するオアハカでは職、食にありつけない人が存在することが想像できる。
旅先で美味しいものを食べ、その土地の文化に触れ、美しい写真に収め、非日常的な刺激を受けることは楽しい。多くの人にとって、それこそが旅の醍醐味だと思う。私にとってもそうだ。でも非日常だけに没頭するのではなく、その場を日常として生きる人々の生活、表情を私は絶対に覚えていたい。忘れたくない。
その表情は、私が旅をする理由そのものだから。
私は、そこで生きる人達を知りたい。
いくらでも悲観できるこの世界で人間が生きることの、希望を見たい。
教会に立ち寄ると、一組のカップルが結婚式を挙げていた。立会人の女性はフチタンの民族衣装で着飾っている。フリーダ・カーロが愛した強さと美の象徴。美しかった。
